I have already been to almost every hiking places near by Kathmandu valley but this place is just soo surreal. We planned to camp on the top to see the scenic beauty of nature and chose Mt.mahabharat Homestay to manage everything for us as we didnt want to take any burden of carrying tents n stuffs uphill. To our surprise, the management of Mr. Kamal Nepal (owner) was nothing less than any big wedding event or such. His staffs came to pick us up at Dhungkharka. His whole family seemed soo hospitable, kind, frank as if we already belong to them, yet so professional. The tent camping at 3000 meters was one of the best experiences i have ever had. Mt. Mahabharat homestay definitely knows what do u want when u go far away from the crowd of cities into the nature. As someone who is a travel freak, I definitely recommend this homestay and would visit the place once again in the near future due to the warm hospitality and kind gesture of kamal dai.

During our recent trip to Mount Mahabharat Homestay, we were blown away by the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. Nestled amidst the majestic mountains, this homestay offers a serene and tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm and friendly hospitality. The hosts went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and made us feel like part of their family. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-maintained, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the area.

My Boyfriend and I stayed with Kamal and his lovely family (3generations) for two weeks and it felt like we had stayed a month. Just because everyone made us feel at home. We helped harvesting, cooking and spend time playing with his youngest son, but we also had a lot of time to enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, read a book or do yoga.

It was so amazing learning to cook and tasting the delicious nepali food made by his wife and mother.
Kamal also took the time to teach us some meditation and went on an adventurous hike to the top of the mountain with us.

I recommend this place and its beautiful inhabitants with their eyes closed and their hearts fully open. They are a hardworking, affectionate and friendly family, with an easy smile on their face and always willing to help you and provide you with the best comfort they can give you. The food is wonderful, really delicious and everything you learn with them is priceless. It has been one of the most wonderful experiences I have had and I want to share it with you. Kamal and his family, the noble Brahmins of Nepal, welcomed me and treated as a dear guest. Delicious organic food made mainly with own grown vegetables, milk from own cows, yoga classes with Guruji yogi Cass. The place is secluded in a mountain village and accessible only by motorbike from Dhunkharka Bazaar, so prepare yourself: come with a backpack and you will feel good if you carry along small gifts/sweets for the children and family (although it is of course not mandatory). Kamal will pick you up with the bike from the Bazaar (unless you wish to walk 1 km up the path). Stay includes a neat room, 3 meals a day. European toilet and hot shower are available. No alcohol, drugs, disrespectful behavior - see rules in the photo. Serene nature, kind people, very safe, including for ladies. I travelled alone and was safe and respected all the time. Obviously, not to wear short tops/shorts/leggins. Days are warm, nights slightly cool.
Especially recommended for spiritual seekers, for those wishing to spend some time with oneself, nature lovers and those interested in Nepali culture.

Mt. Mahabharat Organic Farm is the most amazing homestay on the hill offering a true Nepali experience with a great Yoga studio and teacher Cass. The family caters delightful organic Vegan food! Hiking and other activities can also be organized throughout your stay. Simply ask Kamal and you will be surprised of the many options available!
