Hotel Shanker, Kathmandu, Nepal reviews
48 After a long research have done this hotel for our 3N/2D stay in Jan-24. I must say the location is amazing as it's not like tiny hotels in thamel, bigger compound, nice lawn and heritage property.
Rooms size are adequate, can't suitable for extra mattress
Breakfast was ok as they don't have much options to explore
Bonus tip: they exchnage INR currency without any commission for residential guest.
Staff is very humble, proactive and educated.
This hotel show the traditional architecture located in the center of the capital city. It provide best hospitality. The staff are fully educated to help you with every needs.
One of the best places to accommodate in the capital. The hotel premises is very quiet away from the main streets. The staffs are very friendly.
Wondrous stay. One of the waiters at the kitchen underground could have been more friendly in my opinion, but overall a great experience, 4 star for a 4 star hotel;
One of the most beautiful and cozy places to stay. I had an amazing time here and the staff team is amazing and very helpful.
The hotel and ambiance are really superb. Best hotel to visit. But food from the hotel is not up to the mark.
It was great experience to stay at Shanker hotel.staffs were friendly and caring. I'll visit again
Yesteryear palace converted to hotel.banquet hall is the best.reminds you of the old rich experience.great place to stay in Kathmandu if you like a rich ambience
Old world charm. Smallish but we'll appointed rooms. Takes us back in time to childhood memories of subcontinental houses
Very unwelcoming staff. I did not at all expect such experience from such a reputed hotel. It seemed like the staffs had a salary cut due to covid and were very very dissatisfied with their job. I am not visiting again. Terrible experience.
Historical Palace converted into heritage hotel preserving old majestic and neoclassical art while maintaining modern comfort. Rooms has classic furnishings with friendly environment
Nice hotel, room, cleaning and services but the problem is food price is so high. Also the hot water was not coming. Wasted our night there and when we asked give us some concessions then they said we can't do anything. Running a big hotel but with lack of management. Bathroom was wet all time. Bath tub is so small. If you want to go with girlfriend or a partner then don't go there.
It's a heritage property which is beautiful.
Also it's really huge and properly maintained property.
But the normal rooms are bit small with smaller bathrooms.
Also the food prices are on higher end of the price range similar to a luxury resort.
Great location and beautiful Heritage property. Very well appointed rooms, but being an older property the fittings and appliances need a lil upgrade.
Strangely the room amenities do not include milk powder while amazing tea varieties are offered. This threw me off a bit.
The menu at breakfast and at the restaurant otherwise is very limited. Tasty but small choice of options. Maybe it's because opening after Covid.
Overall great stay and super friendly staff. Enjoyed my week here
Enjoyed my stay. Comfortable room. Food was good. Little problem at check-out. One restaurant meal was paid cash at time. They added it on at check-out. Simpler to add it to bill at time. Get receipts! They searched back on days to find it was paid, or just gave up with my persistence I don’t know. Through it all would stay again for the old world heritage feel.
Loved the unique rooms and comfortable beds. Good showers and helpful staff. Also, the hotel grounds were beautiful. Would absolutely return if I visit Kathmandu again!
Very worst place, services are very poor, restaurant people's are irresponsible. I m very much depressed with restaurant service.
Heritage hotel like a palace. Today there is a VVIP minister family is having wedding ceremony here.
Old world feel. So that is good and bad. The good: The people and the history. The bad: Hotel is not up to date and a bit run down. Staff was attentive but when asked for late check-out because of evening flight, I was told they are booked full so need to check out at 1: 30 PM. However, waiting in the bar, an employee told me they were about 60 percent full.
The place has a historic vibe. Staff is friendly and the breakfast is tasty. The rooms are clean but the bathrooms are a bit outdated
